Last weekend my wife’s sister and her husband were in town visiting us from Portland, OR.
Here’s a recap of some of the things we did together:
Friday – Had dinner at Amin in Park Slope.
Saturday – Checked out the American Museum of Natural History on the Upper West Side. Headed downtown and walked around Union Square, stopping to get a bite to eat at Boqueria. Afterwards, we walked to the West Village and bought a bunch of cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery.
That night we had dinner at Blue Ribbon Sushi and drinks at Great Lakes (where I never did hear the songs I bought on the jukebox thanks to the bastard bartender who hijacked the machine and played all his crappy music instead) before dropping them off at Union Hall where they met some of their friends who live in the neighborhood.
Sunday – Visited the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the Brooklyn Museum where we finally saw the Center for Feminist Art. We ended the day with dinner at Olive Vine with their friends and they took off on Monday and headed back to the Pacific Northwest.

On Tuesday night, we decided to use a gift certificate we had for B.R. Guest Restaurants and had dinner at Blue Water Grill in Union Square. We ate downstairs and listened to live jazz while we started with the lobster sliders and lobster roll. For entrees, my wife had the Crabmeat California roll and Red Bull roll (yellowtail, jalapeno, cilantro topped with tuna) and I had the seafood paella (lobster, shrimp, clams, mussels, chorizo, chicken).
