Missing In Action

By bklyn1

The blogging has been minimal lately due to being busy at work and attending a wedding out of town. Plus, there was nothing I could’ve written that would’ve been more interesting than watching the Eliot Spitzer drama unfold this past week.

Where have I’ve been? Let’s see.

Weekend of March 1st – Dinner with friends at Ditch Plains in the West Village.

Weekend of March 8th – Fly to Cleveland, OH to attend a friend’s wedding. Not sure we’re going to make it as there’s blizzard-like conditions in the Ohio area. We meet up with friends to drive to Canton where the wedding will be held. The snow is non-stop! How is this wedding going to happen? And more importantly, what I am doing in Canton, OH? Fortunately, we make it to our hotel fine, clean up and arrive at the church for the rehearsal. Later, we venture out in the snow to the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the rehearsal dinner. It was a fun venue, but I must admit that I expected more from the HOF as far as the exhibitions were concerned. The NFL needs to pump some more money into this thing as it felt a little outdated and underwhelming. I did get to see some old NY Giants memorabilia.

Also, the main attraction of the actual hall was somewhat disturbing – just a big room full of the busts of NFL greats. Kinda creepy.

The next day we are driven to the church and the ceremony goes off without a hitch. Surprisingly, there’s a good amount of people despite the inclement weather. Later, we head to the Canton Civic Center for the reception. We have a good time but a couple observations about wedding reception music: 1)How does everyone know the dance moves to the Cha Cha Slide? It’s fairly complicated. Do they practice this at home? 2)Same question applies to Crank That (Soulja Boy) 3)How does Soulja Boy even have a career?

Nevertheless a good time was had by all and I must plead guilty to charges of asking the deejay to play old school songs like the Digital Underground’s “Humpty Dance” and Naughty by Nature’s “Hip Hop Hooray”. Look, it was the alcohol talking, okay?

Weekend of March 15th – Happy just to be at home and take it easy this weekend esp. since my wife was under the weather all week. On Saturday, I paid a visit to the new Urban Outfitters on Atlantic Ave (btwn Clinton and Henry). Later, I made my way to Betty Bakery in Boerum Hill for some treats. Still later, I pick up even more treats at the Belgian Waffle Mobile parked in front of the Key Food on 7th Ave. here in the Slope. In the evening, we have dinner at the newly re-modeled Oshima.

Welcome Back! I love the Soulja Boy dance. My guess is that most people at the wedding learned it on TRL or You Tube (like I did).
