Anniversary Dinner at Daniel

Last night we headed to the Upper East Side to celebrate our wedding anniversary at Daniel.

It’s definitely in the upper-echelon of dining experiences though it did not top our ’06 anniversary dinner at Jean Georges.

The interior was recently renovated and upon being seated, my wife was given a velvet stool on which to place her purse. The service was top-notch and attentive. As for the meal itself, we opted for the six-course tasting menu.

The amuse bouche was essentially 3 interpretations of cauliflower. It was interesting but not extraordinary.

As for the six courses, we had:

  1. Mosaic of Foie Gras
  2. Peekytoe Crad Salad with Apple
  3. Butternut Squash Ravioli with pork belly and mushrooms
  4. Salmon and Fig
  5. Braised short ribs and seared beef with potato croquette
  6. Pineapple/Coconut dessert (this does not do it justice, but I don’t know how else to describe it)

Our favorite courses were the dessert course followed by the butternut squash ravioli with pork belly.

They also brought out a special chocolate hazelnut dessert (pictured above) to recognize our anniversary. And a plate of candies/chocolates as well as freshly baked madelines.

All in all, it was a very nice experience and great way to celebrate a special occasion.
