Where I’ve Been

Sunday – Walked the dog through the 7th Avenue Street Fair in Park Slope (pictured above).

Later that evening, we headed to the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre for some improv. I was a big fan of the UCB team back in the day (before Amy Poehler hit it big). I’ve got their short-lived Comedy Central show on DVD and saw them perform live a couple times when we lived in Chicago. I’ve also been a fan of improv comedy, going to shows at Chicago’s Second City, Improv Olympic and the Chicago Improv Festival.

I couldn’t believe the line at 7:00pm that was forming for the free 9:30 show (we had pre-purchased tix for the 7:30 show). Thankfully we got in before too long and settled in our seats to watch Asssscat 3000 – their Sunday night improv show. The format was a tad different from what we’ve been used to – using a bit of suggestion from the crowd combined with a longer stand-up like monologue from another comedian that the group would then play off of for their performance. The show got off to a slower start with some less than funny material but got better as the evening progressed.

Afterwards, we had a late night snack at Shake Shack – a burger and strawberry shake that were pretty darn good.
