Where I’ve Been – Boozy Edition

Sunday – Made some St. Ginger cocktails and had a picnic in Prospect Park.

Tuesday – Met up with my friend MC for drinks at nearby Flatbush Farm Bar(n).

Wednesday – Met up with my friend HH for drinks at Lillie’s Bar in Union Square. This might be my new favorite bar in Union Square. Proceeded to treat myself to a Guinness (or two).

Thursday – Went wine tasting with our friends B & L in North Fork, Long Island. It was a lot of fun and the wine was good.

Friday – Met up with our friend KW at Brooklyn Social Club. I liked the old-school vibe and enjoyed the cocktail “Matt’s Ginger Old-Fashioned” but think I like Weather Up in Prospect Heights better. Afterwards, we had a great dinner at Joya – tasty Thai food in large portions and affordable prices plus a DJ spinning random tunes like Billy Ocean’s “Caribbean Queen” and a re-mix of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire.”

Branding – Sci Fi Channel is changing their name to ‘SyFy’. Really, SciFi? Because it was the spelling that was nerdy?

Word – The New Yorker – In “Author, Author?”, David Sedaris reflects on book tour culture

Film – Yesterday, I watched Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist on demand. It was entertaining enough but not that funny or original.

TV – The other day I watched an old program on Current TV – Sigur Ros @ the MoMA. It was pretty good and I liked their song “Gobbledigook”.

Where I’ve Been: Post Obama Euphoria Edition

November 9, 2008

Wednesday: I won a last-minute drawing at work for 2 tickets to the Knicks/Bobcats game. Michael Jordan and Chris Rock were a couple of the celebs in attendance and were shown on the jumbotron. Oh yeah, the Knicks won (yawn).

Friday: Ate some leftover Indian food from Amin and drank some wine and pretty much passed out before 9pm. Hey, it was a long week!

Saturday: Took Louie to Prospect Park for off-leash hours. Had lunch at Five Guys and then browsed around at Barnes and Noble. Later that evening, we met up with friends at House of Brews and then headed to Don’t Tell Mama for a cabaret. Finished off with an overindulgent meal at eatery where I had (among other things) the white cheddar meatloaf with tempura onion rings, buttermilk mashed potatoes, and white cheddar fondue. My heart hurts.
